Often when we think about treating ourselves, we think about going out for dinner or shopping sprees. We’re thinking about that expensive spa day. Generally, we’re thinking about spending money. But thankfully, if you’re on a budget, there are plenty of ways that you can indulge ourselves without spending anything. So, without further ado, here are 10 awesome ways to treat yourself without spending money.

Go for a Walk in the Woods

This will give you the same sort of feeling as exercising at home but with the added benefit that you’re out in nature. Most of us live near wooded areas and a stroll around them will give you that bit of headspace that can be difficult to find in the everyday hustle and bustle. If you can’t get to the woods then a nice park will do the trick.

PLUS, there are plenty of health benefits to walking in the woods!

Read a Book on the Sofa…

Sometimes the best way to treat ourselves is to spend a bit of time on our own in a nice quiet environment and turning off all the screens. Who doesn’t spend a vast part of their time glued to their phone/computer/television? So turn them all off, kick back on the sofa with a nice hot drink, get a book, and relax. Feel the stress of the week melt away!

…Or in the Bath!

For added decadence, follow the above steps but move the location to a nice hot bath. The more bubbles the better, even get the candles out. You’ll definitely feel relaxed by the time you hit chapter two.

Binge Your Favorite Netflix Show (Or Movies!)

Already have a Netflix account? Well this one is more on the opposite end of the spectrum to meditation but can be equally as relaxing. These days there is an almost endless supply of good quality shows on Netflix. So whatever you like to watch, dim the lights, snuggle down and relax. Props if you find something new!

Eat Your Lunch Outside

You don’t have to go anywhere to enjoy that feeling of eating out in the open air. And if you have a garden or yard, then you are well on your away. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just whatever you would have normally. But changing your location to outdoors (if the weather is good) is a great way to give yourself just a little treat.

Go to a Museum

A lot of museums are free to visit. And they are full of amazing artifacts and discoveries, and feed your brain with knowledge and culture. So have a look around at your area and see what’s there. I’m betting you can find something fascinating that’s right on your doorstep.

Take a Nap

Sleep is a wonderful way to treat yourself. An afternoon nap is a rare luxury and one that you should take full advantage of should the opportunity present itself. Go on, turn the lights off, put on some soothing music, and relax.

Get Creative

Unleash the inner artist or writer within and spend an afternoon creating something. The feeling that you get from creating something is a lot of fun and having that little window of time to yourself to do whatever you want is a sure-fire way to relax and treat yourself.

See, it doesn’t have to be expensive and it doesn’t have to cost a penny. Go on, treat yourself!
