In my opinion, baking soda is the best household ingredients. More than making your cake taste better, this cheap and practical product is a natural cleaner. It has essential properties that work well in cleaning, deodorizing, and freshening a lot of areas and surfaces in any home.

So here are some baking soda hacks that’ll definitely make your life easier. They are all easy to try, have effective results, and make your life so much easier. So check them out and feel free to let me know what you think!

Deodorize Your Dishwasher

While its primary function is to clean, sometimes, we take our dishwasher for granted. Luckily you can easily clean it by trying this one tip. Pour one cup of white vinegar into the bottom of the empty dishwasher and run a heavy clean cycle. Then sprinkle one cup of baking soda in the bottom of the dishwasher and leave overnight. In the morning, run an empty cycle and it’ll be clean and neat again.

Houseplant Cleaner

Houseplants are such a great addition to any room. Not only do they brighten up the home, but they also help purify and freshen the air. So regularly clean them and add a pinch of baking soda to your water cleaner. This will help a lot in photosynthesis and make your plant glow.

Brighten Your Floors

Baking soda makes a great home cleaner, especially for your dull floor finish. All you have to do is combine a half cup of baking soda in a bucket of warm water. Mop and rinse clean for a shiny and bright new floor.

Clean Crayons From the Wall

If you have kids at home, your walls are prone to crayon drawing and art. Thankfully, with a wet cloth and baking soda, you can easily remove all the crayon marks from the wall

Boost Your Laundry Detergent

Want to know the secret to make your colored clothing brighter and your whites whiter? Take baking soda, add 1/2 cup of it to your liquid detergent, and get your laundry into your machine. And because the baking soda also softens the water, you can actually use less detergent.

Clean Car Tires

Yes, you can use baking soda for your car wheels. All you need is to combine one-half cup baking soda, one tablespoon of dish soap, and two cups warm water in a small bowl. Get a soft sponge and gently scrub the tires and hubcaps. Rinse with water later and your car will be ready for the next road trip.

Non-Toxic Oven Cleaner

With just a box of baking soda and water, you can instantly have a toxin-free oven cleaner. It’s cheaper, safer, natural, and more effective compared to any store-bought cleaners. You’ll save a lot and your health as well.

Make a Toothpaste

If you want to have whiter and cleaner teeth, simply mix baking soda with enough hydrogen peroxide to make a paste and use as a toothpaste. This will whiten your teeth and freshen your breath in no time.

There’s no doubt, baking soda is such a versatile and flexible household ingredient. It can help more than what it’s meant for and definitely worth having at home. From naturally keeping your house clean to your personal needs, this humble box of baking soda can go well beyond your kitchen cabinet. So give these tips and hacks a try and let me know what you think.

  1. I have tried the baking sofa as toothpaste and it tastes as some whitening toothpastes taste (I guess that makes part of their main formula). Just be careful to not use regularly as if you put it purely on the tooth. Haven’t mixed with hydrogen peroxide though. For daily use it is recommended to mix the baking soda with a good toothpaste. This ways is less abrasive for the teeth.
