6 Trendy Beauty Tips That Don’t Actually Work

6 beauty tips that don’t work such as using cucumber for puffy eyes or beer for shiny hair. Read which beauty hacks waste time, and what to do instead.

Beauty products.

There are so many beauty tips that get tossed around the internet without any hard evidence. And the people who share these ideas are always telling you that if you want to look incredible, then you need to try their ideas.

But unfortunately, while these beauty hacks are rumored to help, they don’t really work that great (or at all). And some of these home treatments can even make your skin problems worse.

So to make your life a bit easier, I’ve gathered a list of presumed beauty hacks that really just do not work. These are ideas that you need to skip if you read about them on the internet.

So check them out and start adding the beauty tip alternatives that I share to your beauty routine. I promise I won’t steer your wrong!

Applying Toothpaste to Pimples

We all know how hard it can be to clear up your skin. But applying toothpaste to your pimples as a “quick fix” won’t work, it’ll just make things worse.

It can actually irritate your skin and because it has menthol, it’ll dry out your skin and leave an acne scar.

Real Solution: Ditch this idea and treat your pimples with a dab of acne cream or apply a pimple patch.

Not Moisturizing Your Oily Skin

Even if you have oily skin, you still need a good moisturizer. When your skin is dry, it tends to create more oils which can actually cause more breakouts.

Real Solution: The best way to treat your oily skin is to use non-comedogenic moisturizers. This will control oil productions and won’t clog pores.

Cucumbers For Puffy Eyes

Yes, you read it right. Cucumbers aren’t the best option when it comes to relieving baggy eyes. I think we all believe it works because it’s basically in every spa scene in the movies.

Real Solution: I would recommend green or black tea bags that have been steeped, squeezed out, and then cooled in the fridge. You can place them on your eyes for 15-30 minutes and just relax.

Putting Lemon Juice on Your Face

One of the most used and effective home remedies out there are probably lemons. When used for the face, they can brighten up your skin or even help lighten freckles.

However, the acids in lemon juice can damage your skin in the long run. They not only dry your skin out, stripping it of healthy oils, but can also cause irritation, which makes this beauty hack not a good idea

Real Solution:

Brushing Your Hair a Lot

This tip recommends that you brush your hair with 100 strokes right before you go to bed to make it shiny and strong. It supposedly works the natural oils down from your scalp to the rest of your hair.

But excessive brushing will actually strip your hair of natural oils, making your hair more frizzy. That means this beauty hack is definitely not worth trying since you won’t be seeing results and your hair will just get damaged.

Real Solution: Brush or comb your hair as you usually do, and maybe apply a hair mask once a week if you really want to moisturize it.

Using Makeup Wipes as an Alternative Cleanser

While makeup wipes are convenient and practical, washing your face with an actual face wash is still the best option. Makeup wipes just don’t do the trick when it comes to getting rid of makeup and dirt completely.

So save your money, using face wipes for clearer skin really has no effect.

Real Solution: Find a gentle face wash that works with your skin type.

With so many beauty tips and tricks available online, it can be overwhelming to figure out which ones work best and which ones don’t work at all.

But thankfully, there are plenty of sources out there debunking these sometimes harmful “tips.” So make sure to always do your research and share with your friends!
