How I’ve Been Losing Weight Consistently – Some Non-Intimidating Advice

Losing weight consistently starts with healthy lifestyle changes and a balanced diet. Here's everything I'm doing so far to adopt these good habits.

A healthy curry dish.

I want to first start off with saying that I’ve almost always struggled with my weight. I’ve been skinny, I’ve been overweight, and I’ve been somewhere in between.

I’ve always lacked the confidence to just get started on living a healthy lifestyle in general, not just losing weight because I felt bad about my body (only to gain it back again). You probably know the process.

But not too long ago, I decided that I was going to adopt some healthy changes and do things to love my body.

Not hate it because of where it was, but just give it good things and do good things for it. I only have one body, so I want to treat it gently.

So here are a few of my tips on how to lose weight and stay consistent with your own weight-loss journey.

Important Side Note: Make sure to talk to your doctor to know what’s best for your body. My advice could be harmful based on your health.

1. The Waterful App

This wasn’t the first thing I did, but it’s definitely one of the most helpful things I used on my journey to getting down to a healthy weight.

It’s a small important app. It helps you to make sure that you’re drinking the proper amount of water each day, and gives you little rewards when you hit certain milestones. Also… it has a cute little octopus that gets excited for you whenever you add how much water you just drank. ♥️

It’s good, I promise. Also, it kind of keeps you motivated when you start seeing your winning streak (as it were) for drinking 100% of your water goal each day.

2. Putting Healthy Fats Into My Diet

I watched this TikTok (I know, a very legitimate source) of a girl who talked about how in her 20s, she noticed a lot of fine lines early on. Something you’d think you’d start seeing in your 30s.

So after some research, one of the things she did was start to take in more healthy fats since they’re incredible for your skin.

And knowing that I should probably do my own research, I looked up the best sources for healthy fats since they do promote weight loss, skin health, and a lot more.

Here’s my list, but feel free to do your own research so that you can feel good about your own weight loss journey.

Healthy Fats I Try to Work In:

  • Avocados
  • Tuna
  • Chickpeas
  • Whole eggs
  • Full-fat yogurt
  • Cheese
  • Nuts
  • Extra virgin olive oil (I’ll sometimes take this as a shot – don’t judge)
  • Chia seeds

Just make sure to look at the calories and eat in moderation. Too much of a good thing isn’t always good.

3. I Kept My Meals Simple, Healthy, and Not Boring

Simply put, I found what worked with food and stuck with it.

I heard that some of the most important things you can have in your diet were healthy fats, fibers, and proteins.

Side Note: I’m gonna say it again because my site is not a legitimate source for health facts. Do your own research! 😂

So I accumulated a list of good (and yummy) fibers and proteins, just like I did with the healthy fats, and did what I could to make my dishes taste really good.

I wanted to develop new eating habits that would help me stick to a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet. And I know that making your dishes taste good is one of the best ways to lose weight.

Here’s a good example of what I’m making.

I’m living in Mexico at the moment, but you can easily do this dish if you’re living elsewhere.

I bought corn tortillas or made brown rice as a carb base. Then I have fun with the toppings. Ok, so I wanted some fresh tuna, avocado, a bit of soy sauce, and queso fresco (fresh cheese) crumbled on top? Done. Quick and simple.

Here’s the recipe for the Mexican tostadas in the image below if you want to try it yourself.

It was so good and made me and my husband (who was thanking me for the meal days later), feel incredible health-wise.

Now once you’ve accumulated a list of healthy ingredients and looked online for a bit of inspiration, you’ll start to make dishes that are easy to pull together and taste incredible and fresh.

None of this 40-minute prep time for a healthy recipe that might taste like cardboard. Eating healthy foods shouldn’t be boring and stressful.

Also, over a short amount of time, you’ll start to add more and more ingredients that’ll just make the meal even more tasty.

Example: My husband and I love to experiment with salsas. They’ve been shown to be pretty healthy and they add so much flavor to a dish.

And down below is that healthy food list I accumulated. Feel free to check it out and write down what looks good to you!

Some of the ingredients were listed in different categories, which means you’re kind of killing two (or three) birds with one stone when it comes to your health. So basically if you’re eating an avocado, you’re getting fiber, antioxidants, and healthy fats. It’s awesome.👌

That’s it for now, but I’ll be sharing more later. And if you have any questions about these weight loss tips, I’m happy to answer!
