Why You’re (Not) a Failure if You Can’t Keep Your Home Clean

A clean home doesn't determine your worth.

A clean space in the home.

It is so easy to feel discouraged and frustrated when it kind of looks like everyone else has their lives together.

Like you’re constantly playing catchup, but you’ll never get ahead.

And especially when you’ve had a long day, you’re exhausted, you come home, and all you want to do is lay down.

Taking care of the home is probably the last thing you want to do.

But you also feel guilty about it.

Here you are seeing people online showing their way to perfect homes, while you’re to overwhelmed to look at yours.

And that probably makes you feel like you’re failing in this part of your life.

So Here Are My Thoughts On This

You’re not.

You’re not failing and you’re not a failure.

I think we all have this idea in our heads that everyone else can manage and keep a clean home.

And especially the influencers we see online.

Like they’re all these perfect people who aren’t even human.

But it’s just not true.

They are humans, they are messy, they are sloppy, and most likely, anything your friends or influencers are showing you are just moments.

They’re moments of cleanliness, of organization, and having it all together for a little bit.

Now I’m not saying that there aren’t people you know who are just good at consistently keeping the home clean. There are!

But I don’t think it’s fair throw shade at yourself when you’re only human.

You’re figuring things out just the same as me, and that doesn’t make you a failure.

I mean, it wasn’t until this year that I started to actually get my home under control, but I’m still not perfect with it.

I have my messy days where I’m too overwhelmed and have too much going on.

And so do you.

So it’s ok to be gentle with yourself, gradually learn some new ways of keeping your home clean, and relax.

Also, being hard on yourself never helped anything anyway!

It’s going to be ok.
