5 Homemade Sugar Scrubs to Add to Your Beauty Routine

Homemade face scrub recipes for your beauty routine. Try DIY scrubs like chocolate mint sugar & green tea for exfoliating and getting glowing skin.

Sugar scrubs you can use on your face.

Sugar scrubs are one of the most fun ways to take care of your beauty and hygiene, and especially if you make them yourself.

It’s so nice to know what ingredients are going into the sugar scrub, and knowing how it’ll improve your skin. Also, they can also be colorful, and it’s so nice to have your skin feeling softer and smoother.

However, there are so many choices out there, and whenever I go on Pinterest or Google a good homemade face scrub, I find it pretty hard to make a decision.

So I thought I’d curate a very simple list of five scrubs you can use for skincare and exfoliating. Scroll and see which DIY body scrub looks good to you!

1. DIY Chocolate Mint Sugar Scrub

I put cocoa powder in a lot of things; oatmeal, cake in a mug, and coffee drinks. But I’ve never put it into a skincare product before, which is why I was immediately drawn to this one.

Also, it includes coconut oil which I really like. Also, it seems like coconut oil is one of the main ingredients in a lot of sugar scrubs out there, which makes sense. Unlike other oils, it’s able to firm up at room temperature and makes for a nice scrub texture (also, it’s just great as a moisturizer).

2. Whipped Grapefruit Mint Sugar Scrub

The first time I saw this, I thought it was a dessert recipe. Turns out that the creator, Kayley, just makes scrubs look that good.

With coconut oil being the main ingredient, it also includes things like peppermint and grapefruit juice and oil (surprise surprise), which has to be so nice for your skin.

You can either use it in the shower for yourself, but it could also be a simple gift since it looks so pretty!

3. Green Tea Sugar Scrub

If you’re looking for a good sugar scrub for the face, then I think this might be a good option!

I love green tea, it has so many awesome health benefits. So when I saw that this scrub had green tea in it, I knew I had to add it to the list.

Created byย Shundara Castion, it has.. well it has coconut oil in it as well (really not trying to push the product). But the key ingredient, green tea, really is the star here. So if you want a refreshing nice scrub for your face, then this might be a great one to try.

While the site that had this scrub no longer exists, you can try this other green tea sugar scrub here!

4. DIY Blueberry Lemon Body Scrub

When this one caught my eye, I thought two things. One: that color is so pretty. Two: blueberries have antioxidants in them… that sounds great for my skin!

Created by Dear Crissy, this scrub includes coconut oil which is great for moisturizing and cleansing your skin. But if you’re using it in the shower, then just be careful of the residual oil that gets on the shower floor.

Also, I bet the combination of blueberry and lemon smells incredible! Perfect for an at home spa day.

The original page for this DIY scrub no longe exists, but you can try a similar recipe for a blueberry lemon scrub here.

5. DIY: Coconut Coffee Scrub

If you already have coconut oil, then that’s good, because you already have one of the two ingredient down for this scrub. It seems like coconut oil is the key ingredient for a lot of scrubs out there.

Also, the caffeine in coffee has been shown in a 2010 article to help reduce puffiness which can be great for giving you a more youthful look. So if you’re already into coffee (or a bit of an addict), then all you have to do is go into your kitchen, get some coffee, and make that scrub.

You can very gently use it on your face or scrub down your legs and arms for soft and smooth skin.

  1. I hit were it says to here, and it doesn’t show me how to make them…Could you tell me where to find recipes for all ???

  2. Nice recipes but I’d use essential oils instead of extracts. Extracts are usually used for cooking, and are usually artificial, so of no benefit to the skin whatsoever. They are made from alcohol so could be drying, really.

  3. Can any of these be used on the face or are they just body scrubs? I ask because one mentions that it helps with acne and lightens dark marks, I have this on my face and not my body.

    • I’m sorry Keith that I didn’t make it easier to find. I link to the ingredients and instructions on how to make them through the names of the scrubs. I like linking back to the original author’s page so that person gets more traffic on their site. Perhaps I should make the links more evident. ๐Ÿ™‚
