The Keto Diet has become one of the most popular diet programs. Its benefits on certain diseases like diabetes and effectiveness in losing weight are widely known facts, but Keto Diet tips that tell us what we should or shouldn’t eat are often a matter of debate.

The main idea behind the Keto Diet is minimizing carb intake and getting energy from fat. And as a result, if you’re a Keto Diet follower, you should also be careful about the vegetables you eat as they contain carbs. And what follows is a list of the 10 veggies you should avoid on the Keto Diet.

Quick Important Note:

Basically… you don’t need to diet to lose weight and can STILL go to McDonald’s.

1. Potatoes

Unfortunately, not every vegetable can be eaten on the Keto Diet, and potatoes are one of them. Potatoes are a great source of fiber, but they also have a downside. A medium-sized potato will easily take up all of your daily carb intake.

2. Sweet Potatoes

Some of you may think eating a sweet potato is healthier than regular potatoes because it’s lower in carbs, but in fact, it’s still a no-no. One medium-sized sweet potato has 24 g of carbs.

3. Bell Peppers

It may be funny to you, but these vegetables, especially the red and yellow ones, are not as innocent as you think. 100 g of (red) bell pepper contains 4-7 g of carbs. They’re definitely delicious, but don’t be deceived by thinking they’re just veggies.

4. Beans

Beans and legumes have proven to have lots of health benefits, but when it comes to the Keto Diet, things change. Although they’re healthy, they’re rich in carbs. One cup of cooked beans usually has 40-45 g of carbs, so make sure to have a very small amount if you have them at all.

5. Corn

Corn is a starchy grain that is high in carbs. 1 cup of corn has 41 g of carbs; therefore, it may not be the wisest idea to eat corn.

6. Beets

If you didn’t know, one cup of cooked beets has 16 g of carbs, so make sure you stay away from this veggie!

7. Lentils

Lentils are great; they’re rich in protein and fiber. Their healthiness is an undeniable fact, but things are different when it comes to the Keto Diet. ½ cup of cooked lentils has 19 grams of carbs, so make sure to steer clear of these legumes!

Quick Tip

If you want to add something to your drinks and food that keeps your skin looking younger, repairs your body (after working out), AND gives you energy throughout the day, then I would seriously recommend collagen protein powder which you can check out here.

ALSO, this brand is specifically great since it’s flavorless (which is awesome since I hate adding things that make my favorite drinks and food taste horrible). So I would definitely check it out here and see how you feel and look after using it for a little while.

8. Green Peas

Green peas are definitely delicious and can be used in many meals or recipes. However, you should think twice before adding them to your meal. One cup of green peas is well over the daily limit of your carb intake.

9. Carrots

Being a root vegetable and high in carbs, this one is a no-no on the Keto Diet. So make sure to steer clear of these on your grocery run!

10. Turnips

While turnips make for a healthy and colorful topping for your salad (I mean have you seen the dishes that use turnips on Pinterest? Super Pretty!), these are root veggies you shouldn’t be eating.

If you love being on the Keto Diet but hate falling out of ketosis, then make sure to avoid these veggies!
