As the new year starts, you might be making resolutions to have a healthy lifestyle. And if you’re thinking of getting a new diet plan to try out this year, then I highly recommend the Paleo diet. It’s a diet that means eating only natural foods that people in the Paleolithic era (pre-historic times) ate. You can eat anything you could hunt or gather if you lived back then – things like meats, fish, nuts, leafy greens, regional veggies, seeds, and more. It’s found to be very effective and can help you lose weight quickly.

And to make your diet plan a little bit easier, I’ve gathered some Paleo hacks that you should definitely try. These are tips and tricks that’ll make you stick to your healthy living and inspire you to shed more weight. It won’t take it long, so check them out and let me know what you think.

Prepare Foods in Advance

It’s much easier to stick to your diet when everything is prepared in advance. And more than just making sure you eat healthy, it’ll also help you save time and money. As soon as you reach your kitchen after doing your grocery shopping, start chopping your vegetables and meat, and begin cooking.

Pack them in plastic containers, store them in the fridge, and take out when you’re ready to eat the meals. Make a batch for your breakfast, lunch, dinner and if you have time, make some healthy snacks too. Do this on Sunday and you’ll save yourself so much time over the coming week.

Eat Fermented Foods

Fermented foods nourish our body with good bacteria that are essential in improving our digestion and boosting immunity. Eating more fermented foods that are rich in probiotics will benefit your health a lot. So get some yogurts, kefir, pickles, miso, kimchi, and kombucha on your next grocery visit. Start with half a cup per day and build up from there. Your body will feel a lot better over time.

Beware Of Paleo Comfort Foods

Often times you can find cookies or bars that say Paleo friendly. But let’s get real, there are no cookies and bars in the wild. These snack bars are made with artificial sweeteners and other unfriendly Paleo ingredients.

So instead, try snacking on nuts or berries. Also, consider checking out Pinterest since there are plenty of Paleo snack recipes on there that are super easy to make. Bring them with you and munch whenever you feel hungry.

Disconnect

Sometimes, when you sit alone in front of the TV, laptop, or your phone, you might see some unhealthy foods (you know, all of those awesome Tasty food videos?). So get away from the screen for a bit and limit yourself from watching all of those unhealthy (but oh so good looking) food videos. There’s no reason to tempt yourself!

Get a Grill

Who says grilling is just for summer when you can do it almost any other time of the year? Grilling food is a super healthy way to cook your food. Plus, who wouldn’t want to have a flamed grilled proteins, veggies, and fruits on their plate, right?

Cut Out Caffeine

Though coffee offers antioxidants and boosts your performance, relying on it while on the Paleo diet can upset your stomach and make you gain more weight (especially those latte’s you get from your favorite coffee shop). Instead, try to drink mostly water (and add some fruit to give it a more refreshing taste).

Get the Right Type of Meat

More meat means more protein in your diet. But before you stockpile your fridge with a ton of meat, choose quality meats that don’t have hormones, antibiotics, and other additives commonly found in modern meat. People who lived in the Paleolithic era didn’t have all these additives, which means you probably shouldn’t either.

Try a New Recipe Every Week

To make each meal exciting and inviting, make it a habit to try out a new recipe every week. Just because you’re on a diet , it doesn’t mean you have to eat boring food. You can choose plenty of amazing Paleo-friendly recipes on Pinterest for the rest of the week. Add them to your meal plan so you have enough variety while on this diet.

Exercise Without Equipment

After you’ve done some of these other hacks, it’s now time to try workouts that go along with the Paleo diet.

People in the Paleolithic era didn’t have equipment, which means you won’t need an exercise ball, kettlebells, or yoga mats to workout. Your body is the only equipment you need to start shedding pounds. Jump, run, curl up, squat, lunge, and do anything you can without the help of exercise tools. You can do all these types of exercises at home which will also save you money!

Whether you’re already on the Paleo diet or just testing the waters, I hope these tips and hacks will help you stick to your healthy lifestyle. They’re all super easy to implement, so give them a try, and let me know what you think in the comments down below!
