2018 is almost here and many of us are prepared, but not all of us have a plan for how to stay organized in the new year. It can almost be overwhelming to think about, but thankfully there are plenty of ideas on how to make your life easier when January comes.

Here are some of the best ways to simplify your life that’ll definitely help you have a productive year. So check them out and let me know what you think.

Clean Up Any Clutter

Make it a habit to always keep your home clean and organized at all times. Whether you do it through small tasks throughout the week, or all of it on Sunday, it can help to make you feel at ease. Having a mess free home can help you be more productive (since you’re not focused on cleaning mess after mess) and keep things peaceful.

Have a To-Do List

Creating a to-do list can definitely make sure you’re not stressed out. It’ll keep you reminded of what you need to do and not get behind. It breaks down everything that has to be done and organizes tasks by each day, priority, topic, person or concern. To-do lists are great ways to simply your life.

Live Frugally & Do the Two Week Rule

Living within your budget is one of the easiest ways to have a simpler life. Don’t live above your means, no matter how tempting it might be. Learn to give importance to things that actually matter and stay content with what you have.

One way to do this is to implement the two week rule. If there’s something you want, wait two weeks to get the item. By the end of the two weeks, you’ll probably realize that you didn’t really want it that bad. I’ve done this so many times and it’s saved me from a lot of impulse purchases.

Automate Your Payments

Automating your payments can help make sure everything’s paid on time and clear your mind of all the deadlines. Many of us can get stressed just thinking about getting charged for making a payment late. You can automate your credit card payment, get direct deposits for your paycheck, and automate your bills. Doing this will free your mind, save you money, and help you stay focused on other tasks.

Spend Less Time on Social Media

Many of us spend much of our time on the internet. But instead of spending hours on the computer, phone, or another gadget, why not socialize with family or friends and benefit physically and mentally.

There are plenty of studies showing how people can get anxiety from being on social media too much. What with negative news and feeling like you’re not getting enough engagement on your posts, it’s no wonder that staying off can help us out so much.

Set Time Aside for Yourself

It may feel impossible to have “you time” when you feel like your schedule is too busy and hectic. However, planning your week ahead of time can help with this. Having time for yourself can keep your more emotionally and physically balanced.

You can also take this time to think of your future goal. Being alone can help you focus on what you want and how to get there. It’s also very therapeutical and can give you energy for those crazy busy days.

Become Debt Free

To easily live in peace and have a simpler life, always choose to be debt free. Just like clearing out your home’s clutter or losing weight, getting rid of your debts can make you feel so much better. You don’t need to work long hours just to pay off your credit cards or student loans. Your earnings will be put to good use and you can save up for your future.

Simplify Your Clothing

People like Mark Zuckerburg wear the exact same thing everyday. Why? Because it gives him more time to focus on things that actually matter. Now I’m not saying that you have to wear one set of clothing, but simplifying your wardrobe can definitely help with your focus.

Learn When to Say No

Many times, you’ve been stressed out since you didn’t know how to say no for the people in your life. Even if it’s impossible to make happen, you end up saying yes, and spending money and time you don’t have. Saying no may allow you to have more time to focus on what you truly want, save you money, and simplify your life.

Saying no is a muscle and it needs to be worked out.

Evaluating what really matters to you is one of the best ways to have a simpler life. Sometimes, it’s that small things that count the most and make you feel content and happy in life. And I hope I was able to inspire you to try these tips and have a simpler life this coming year.

So as you go into the new year, start to implement these ideas and let me know how it goes! I’d love to hear about it!
