We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again; we need to eat healthier and make a change. But before we know it, we’ve already eaten those chips or got that latte and forgot about our diet.

And while it may sound impossible to ditch all the junk food in our life, looking for alternative ways to make our food healthier without sacrificing the taste is actually possible.

So down below are some great food substitutes perfect for your meal that give the same taste and but are super healthy. They’ll help you stick to a healthier lifestyle without giving up on flavor. They’re simple and easy to implement and will make your life so much easier. So check them out and let me know what you think.

Cow’s Milk with Almond Milk

Compared to cow’s milk, almond milk is so much better when it comes to calorie cutting. In fact, it has the lowest amount of calories compared to other milk types.

Also, it’s good for someone whose stomach gets easily upset with dairy products. Add it to your smoothie, froth it in your coffee, or make hot chocolate; you’ll never taste the difference.

French Fries with Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Substitute your hard to resist fries with baked sweet potato fries and you’ll never miss them (I mean you can make them taste like dessert or a savory snack). Sweet potatoes are super healthy and packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Also, they’re easy to make at home. You just have to wash them, cut into wedges, drizzle some olive oil on them, sprinkle salt and pepper, and pop into the oven.

Pasta Noodles to Zoodles

Forget high carb pasta noodles and try zoodles for a guilt-free pasta dish. These veggie noodles are low in calories, carbs, and contain no flour at all. You can easily make them using zucchini, sweet potatoes, or squash, put them into a Spiralizer, and skip the boiling. Just saute for a few minutes until soft and your meal will be ready.

And because they’re veggies, they’re rich in vitamins and will help you get your veggie quota in for the day.

White Sugar to Coconut Sugar

Need more reason to choose coconut sugar over white sugar? It’s natural, less processed, low in calories and high in nutrition. They make the best sweetener option for all your sugar needs.

Potato Chips to Popcorn

Instead of munching on salty and fatty potato chips, try popcorn for a better option. It’s high in fiber and low in calories. So whenever you’re having a salty craving, pop some over the stove or in your popcorn maker and add your desired flavor (just try to stay away from butter).

Milk Chocolate to Cacao Nibs (Or Dark Chocolate)

Cacao nibs are bits of fermented, dried, roasted, and crushed cacao beans that have an intense chocolatey taste but aren’t sweet at all.

Compared to regular chocolate, they have a crunchy yet tender texture that when bitten, burst with flavor. Put them in desserts, drinks, and even savory dishes and enjoy!

Sour Cream to Greek Yogurt

Though both have similarities in taste and texture, sour cream has fewer nutrients and more fat compared to a cup of Greek yogurt.

So, If you want to create a healthier dish or baked good, use an equal amount of yogurt in place of the sour cream.

Ice Cream to Fruit Smoothies

Ditch sugar-packed ice cream and choose fruit smoothies for a healthier dessert. All you have to do is blend some frozen fruit, leafy greens, and add some yogurt or liquid of your choice. They’ll taste great and make you feel refreshed.

Also, try to pre-pack the ingredients into a ziplock and put in your fridge for breakfast on the go.

Mashed Potato to Mashed Cauliflower

Simply use your favorite mashed potato recipe and switch out the potatoes with cauliflower. You’ll have a tasty and healthy side dish when you try this tip.

Delivery Pizza to Home Made Pizza

While delivery might be easy, homemade will always be the best.

By making your own pizza at home, you can make sure it’s fresh, healthy, and tasty. Prepare ahead of time and you’ll save so much time in the evening.

Who says being on diet means eating boring and tasteless meals when you can have great alternatives that give the same taste without sacrificing your health? And the tips and hacks from the list above will make your meal taste delicious and naturally healthy. So pick any of these substitutes, add them to your meal plan, and you’ll feel so much better.
