So lately I’ve been trying to find more legitimate ways to make money from home. Now I’m not talking about filling out surveys that’ll pay you five cents for doing thirty minutes of work. I mean actual ways to quit the 9-5 and wake up when you want to.
For many, that’s one of their biggest dreams; to have more time with family, to travel full-time, or not have to deal with the public. And that’s why I’m writing on proofreading. I’ve been finding awesome case studies on this work from home idea and I’ve been seeing TONS of success stories.
And for those you who love to read (and maybe you’re a bit of a grammar Nazi on your friend’s Facebook posts?), this could be a huge way to upgrade your lifestyle.
For this post, I’ll be focusing on Caitlin Pyle’s story; someone who was able to make $40,000 a year proofreading. Now that’s definitely better than any minimum wage part-time job. What She Did to Become a Proofreader
Caitlin had taken a 7-day Free Intro Course on the site Proofread Anywhere (the name seems pretty fitting doesn’t it?). Once she had found that this was right for her, she went ahead and did the entire course. This course showed her exactly what she needed to do to be a well trained proofreader, tips and hacks, and how to get and work with clients.
How She Became Efficient at Proofreading
In the course, you’re taught on how to proofread from an iPad (proofreading on the go… which means you could even proofread on break from work). It actually sped up her time and certain tools helped make it more efficient and possible for her to quickly proofread her client’s work.
No longer did she have to print out her client’s work and then scan it back to them (page after page). She could just simply send it back to them in a PDF and they’d have their work back all the sooner.

How She Was Able to Compete with Other Proofreaders
Unlike being a proofreader in general, the course teaches you how to be a court proofreader which is something that the courts actually need and a niche you can fill. So instead of competing with other proofreaders to fill positions that are more well known, you can go after a specific niche and succeed.
Now you’re probably wondering why I’m writing on this, and I should let you know that I’m not getting paid to write this. I just really love finding awesome real ways to make money from home. It’s my passion to help people out with this. It’s opened up so many doors for me (I work abroad as a blogger traveling now) and I know it can for you too.
